Buyer's Easy Guide
This guide provides helpful information on how to bid at our salerooms. Please read this information in conjunction with our full terms and conditions.
Timed online Bidding Procedures
We provide an online bidding service through Easy Live Auction www.easyliveauction.com
To get started:
Registration:
• Create an account on EasyLive Auction at www.easyliveauction.com/register by providing your email and completing the registration process. By using this site, you agree to their Privacy Terms and Conditions and Cookie Policy. If you don't agree, do not register.
Approval:
• Register for the specific Western Salerooms auction you want to join.
• Approval is at our discretion and may require extra information.
Bidding:
• Follow the EasyLive Auction instructions and make sure to read their Terms and Conditions before bidding.
Auction Fees:
• All applicable fees will be clearly listed in the EasyLive Auction catalogue before you bid.
here are two options for fees:
Free Registration: A 3.6% fee is added to your final bid, on top of the auctioneer’s Buyer’s Premium.
or
Flat Fee: A one-time fee of £3.00 charged by EasyLive Auction with no extra premium added on top of the auctioneer’s Buyer’s Premium. These fees apply whether you bid or win the lot, so please review them carefully before participating.
Responsibility:
• The Buyer’s Premium is subject to change. Always check the current fees on EasyLive Auction or listen for the announcement at the live auction. You can view the current fees by clicking on the Fees button on each listing in the EasyLive Auction catalogue.
Account Verification:
When you register for an auction or add a payment card to the EasyLive system to check to that your account is valid and working a small temporary charge (e.g., 10p) may appear on your account to verify your payment method. This is called a "deferred-void payment," and the amount will be refunded after a few days. If unsure, contact your card issuer.
Registering Your Bid Online
You can place bids as soon as the auction catalogue opens. There are two ways to bid:
Either
Maximum Bids:
• Set a maximum bid before the auction starts.
Or
Live Bidding:
• Bid as the auction progresses. If you place a bid in the last 5 minutes, the closing time will extend by another 5 minutes, giving everyone a fair chance to bid. This allows the lot to be sold to the highest bidder and not the quickest at the finish.
Winning a lot
Once you win a lot, you’ll receive a notice confirming that you are the successful bidder.
Title and Collection of Purchases
Ownership:
• As the buyer, you become responsible for the lot as soon as the hammer drops. However, ownership does not transfer to you until full payment is made.
Payment Required Before Collection:
• You cannot remove purchased lots from the premises until payment is complete.
Item Removal:
• All items in a lot must be collected or additional charges may apply if items are not removed.
Single Contract:
• All lots purchased by one person are considered part of a single contract.
Terms of Payment
Payment Deadline:
• Full payment, including any arranged postage or shipping charges, must be made within 4 working days after the auction has ended
Any Payments you make may be applied towards any outstanding amounts you may owe to us on any account, regardless of instructions provided by you or your agent
Invoices:
At the end of the auction, you will receive an invoice via email with the details of your lot, including:
The hammer price
20% Buyer’s Premium
easyLive registration or flat fee
VAT and Artist Resale Right (if applicable)
Methods of Payment
The following options are available for payment of your invoice. You can pay using the following methods:
Online Payment:
• Follow the link and instructions in your invoice. Ensure you enter your Buyer’s Reference Number when making payment. Payments are not automatically deducted from your registered card unless specified.
Bank Transfer:
• Transfers must state your Buyer’s Reference Number.
If transferring from a foreign currency, the amount we receive must be the total due in pounds sterling.
For international payments:
EUROS: No fees.
Other Currencies: £6 fee for conversion, charged by our bank (Monzo).
Transfers by CHAPS. No additional charges incurred.
Payment in Person:
We accept debit/credit cards at the office at the time of collection.
Cash (up to £5,000) is accepted with proof of identity.
Cheques: UK cheques made payable to Western Salerooms Ltd.’, with at least 5 working days required for clearance before collection.
Collection of Goods
Appointment-Only Collection:
Goods must be collected within 4 working days of the sale date. Please ring the salerooms for an appointment or click on the link on your email.
Late Collection Fees:
• After this time, a removal fee of £10 per lot and storage fees of £10 per day per lot will apply.
• If no payment is received within 1 week, we will take payment from your stored card details.
• If you cannot collect within this time, please contact us so we can work with you to find a solution.
Failure to Collect:
If your goods are not collected within 7 days, the auctioneer reserves the right to resell the items at the next auction. Any prior reserves will be waived.
Storage charges and a selling premium will be deducted from any resale proceeds.
Disposal fee:
Items not collected will incur disposal fees
Non-Payment or Non-Collection:
• If payment is not received or goods are not collected, the auctioneer may reject any bids you make in the future.
• If no payment is made after 1 week, we may charge your stored card for the full amount.
Packing and Shipping
Packing:
When you came to collect your lots you are responsible for providing your own packing materials for safe transportation
Postage:
Please contact us to discuss your postage requirements before bidding. There is a standard charge of £10 plus the cost of postage and any insurances you choose. Please visit our website for more information.
It is your responsibility to check any implications for prohibited items, import and export and CITES regulations.
Shipping and Delivery:
• We do not provide packing and dispatch unless agreed in advance.
• Local deliveries are available at low cost. We can help with advice on national deliveries and may pack lots for your courier collection at our discretion. Please ask for prices.
• Please ensure you are aware of shipping costs before placing a bid.
Damage During Shipping:
Western Salerooms is not responsible for any damage during packing, transit, or shipping. Damage and insurance claims are your responsibility.
Agreement to Terms
By placing a bid and winning a lot, you confirm that you agree to our full terms and conditions.
